ATC "Eclezia" has existed for about 9 years. During that time we reached over 200 poor and high-risk children. The humanitarian support and social projects developed in the past have targeted over 100 socially vulnerable families. All our projects cover three communities of the Donduseni district (population: about 20.000 inhabitants).
Under present circumstances – high poverty rate among the rural population, slow economic development (few jobs for people: either graduating a vocational school or high school/university), corruption and a lack of government strategy concerning high risk young people – we can presume at least another 10 to 15 years of similar, acute problems.

Subsistence minimum for a child is USD 2.28 per day and nearly 60% of children live below this standard. Measures to reduce poverty do not primarily target children, but are directed towards the elderly. The project provides education and basic support for orphaned and impoverished children.
To do so, it provides three main areas of support in the communities of Tirnova and Taul in the rural north of Moldova.
Additionally, parents often involve children in inappropriate agricultural or domestic works. Even if the economic situation of the family is materially improved, both emigration and the involvement of children in inappropriate works, are detrimental to physical and emotional health and school performance of the children. The level of poverty is linked to the level of education. More than half of the poor have only primary education or are illiterate
Stelian. Came in our project two years ago. He is a smart boy, but an introvertit one. Last year his grandfather died. And now our project fulfill many of his needs. He found here a community, where he was helped to communicate with others.Last summer was his first time being in a camp. He was all the time smiling and he impressed us with his positive attitude.

Project ManagerSamira. They moved in Taul, district Donduşeni, Republic of Moldova, from a russian village and the girl had to change the language of studying from russian to romanian. Because of this, the support she receives in the project in doing her homework is really significant. in the beginning she was frightened and suspicious. Now, she is more talkative and friendly with the other children. Also she makes progress at school.
